Microneedling

Also known as Epidermal Collagen Induction therapy, microneedling is an innovative treatment that treats acne, fine lines and scars. By creating microscopic trauma to the skin, the tiny needles help trigger development of new collagen and elastin to improve facial volume and texture. Microneedling can be combined with the application of platelet rich plasma (PRP) to further stimulate collagen production. Results do take several weeks and are best after 3 treatments. Unlike resurfacing lasers, microneedling has minimal downtime.

  • Collagen Production: By creating controlled micro-injuries, microneedling stimulates the body’s natural collagen production, leading to firmer, more elastic skin.
  • Wrinkle Reduction: Microneedling can help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes, mouth, and forehead.
  • Scar Improvement: Microneedling can improve the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, and stretch marks by stimulating collagen remodeling and promoting new tissue growth.
  • Even Skin Tone: Microneedling can reduce hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and other skin discolorations, resulting in a more even complexion.
  • Enhanced Product Absorption: The micro-channels created during microneedling allow topical skincare products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, maximizing their effectiveness.
  • The skin is cleaned and a topical numbing agent is applied.
  • The numbing cream will be removed and a soothing oil will be applied to the face. Then, using a handheld microneedling device  (a pen‑style instrument with adjustable needle depth), thin micro‑channels or “micro‑injuries” are created in the skin’s surface.
  • Depending on the area treated, the session may last roughly 10-20 minutes.

Immediately after treatment your skin will likely appear pink or slightly red, feel warm or mildly tight. These effects typically resolve within a few hours to a couple of days. It is fine to wash your face with genle soap.

Your provider will give detailed after‑care instructions, which typically include:

  • Using gentle, hydrating skincare products.
  • Avoiding sun exposure, including tanning beds, and applying broad‑spectrum sunscreen daily.

Because microneedling enhances penetration of topical serums and treatments, your skin will be even more receptive to skincare applied in the days following treatment.

Visible improvement typically begins in the weeks after treatment as collagen and elastin rebuild. Many patients see continued texture, tone and wrinkle improvement over 3‑6 months
